ROBINSON FOR HIS SERVICE AND DEVOTION AS A MEMBER AND CHAIRMAN OF THE ELECTRIC POWER BOARD OF CHATTANOOGA. WHEREAS, James B. Robinson was first confirmed by the City Commission of the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee, to become a Member of the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga effective April 15, 1978; and WHEREAS, he has since been confirmed by the Mayor and Council or Commission for three additional successive terms as a Member and as Chairman of the Electric Power Board, for a total of four successive terms; and WHEREAS, he has diligently exercised his gifts of business leadership and his concern for his fellow citizens to assure that the entire community benefitted from an efficiently operated electric power system; and WHEREAS, along with his skills and ability in business and financial affairs, he has also used his keen intellect to contribute to the overall improvement of his community by serving in leadership roles in several civic, community, and religious organizations and making substantial contributions of his time and talent for the betterment of all mankind; and 0C WHEREAS, his unending devotion and dedication to the efficient operations of the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga have helped allow our citizens to obtain the advantage of reliable electric service at the lowest possible rates; and WHEREAS, his extraordinary commitment to and interest in the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga motivated the other Members to appoint him as Chairman of the Board as of April 15, 1993, and he has led the Board from that point to this day; and WHEREAS, his leadership qualities as a Member and Chairman of the Board have been emulated in the executive management of the Electric Power Board by and under those General Managers and Presidents who have served during his tenure; and WHEREAS, during the period of his service the Electric Power Board has been recognized among municipal utilities throughout the United States for its advances in technical operations and its unique financial status as a debt-free utility; and WHEREAS, upon the completion of his twenty years of distinguished service on the Board including his service as Chairman during the past five years, he is retiring from the Board during the month of April, 1998; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That James B. Robinson is commended for his distinguished service, dedication, commitment 0C and loyalty to his fellow citizens as a Member and Chairman of the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga from 1978 to 1998, and in behalf of the citizens of Chattanooga we extend our warmest and heartfelt appreciation.
